Ritual of Essence and Ashes

I am not sure why I am sharing this Ritual with you tonight.

As one grows elder the flows of Summerland grow faster for some of us.

This is a Ritual of remembrance and connectivity. It can be used anywhere True Friends gather for any special occasion.

What you need:

1) A clay or metal bowl, a iron cauldron works well. That can handle a small fire.

2) A group of small small clean dry twigs that will burn well and basket or container to hold them. Have one for each person attending including your self. Four nice ones a little less than half the diameter of the bow, these are the Cardinal Points or Watch Tower Guardians. And one for you the host.

3) Also some small twigs broke up as Fire Tender. A few pieces of paper, one for every one there with there name on it. And a large piece with what or why the occasion is happening, the date and where.

4) Of course matches to start a fire.

5) Small wood or metal spoon

6) Small jars bottles, one for each person there.

The Start:

As Host pick a nice or if possible Nemeton location for fire bowl.

The Ritual will be in two parts.

Part one: as soon as all guest have arrived and before main occasion event.

Gather all guest arount the fire bowl. As you talk about friends, good times and good memories add (in this order the event paper, names papers. I like to read the names as I add them to bowl. Then the small twigs as tender. Have every one take a twig from the basket. Put the four Cardinal twigs in and address watch tower guardians as you do.

Set bowl to fire and take your own twig, kiss it, in old we did blood but few follow those ways.

Add it to the fire and have each person do the same.

Have the event or party or what even.

Just before things are ready to break up bring all guest back to fire bowl now burned down to ash.

Give each a small jar or bottle. Take your own and spoon it a bit of ash and close it. Let each guest do the same (if they wish). Do not have bottles labeled, let each that keeps theirs do it as they wish.

With everone is spooning the ash, it is a good time to thank them for coming, being good friends and staying in your heart and mind for ever along with what event was about.

Well that is it what or how you all use the ash is up to you.
